The Accademia di Belle Arti Reggio Calabria
The Accademia di Belle Arti di Reggio Calabria, the first in order of Calabria’s institutions and the third in Southern Italy after those of Naples and Palermo, started its training activities in 1967.
It extends over three floors with a total surface area of 5,000 square metres and consists of classrooms made suitable for teaching and research, hosting a renewed and extensive set of technical and artistic instruments that provide the students with a high level of professionalism.
The exhibition spaces
The Academy is enriched by a gallery of Contemporary Art, an excellent “showcase” for the institution’s artistic heritage, consisting of over 70 works, some created by the teachers who have taught in the Academy over time, and others donated by prestigious artists.
Moreover, two itinerant art galleries that regularly host art exhibitions dedicated to national and international artists that allow for continuous research and experimentation regarding techniques of expression in the art world are a permanent attraction for visitors
